Turn what you have into what you want

Work is a process. Resolution is designed to help you figure out what the steps are, and what happens when you go from one to the next.

Here’s how it works.

Curious? Learn as you go.

Learn the basics in a (very) quick walkthrough inside the actual Resolution app.

How Resolution Works:

Steps

Steps are the basic building block of Resolution, and represent either what you have, what you want, or one of the things in the middle.

Every Step has a Unit. That could be something as simple as “dollars” or “products sold”, or be more specific (“new revenue”, “Product A Sales”, etc.).

You can divide things up into different sized piles by going from one Step to a group of Steps that are all the same Unit.

Conversions

When you go from a Step with one Unit to one with a different Unit, you automatically get a Conversion. These can be prices, rates, or any other value that determines how much it takes of one thing to get another.

You can view conversions in a bunch of different formats so they make sense to you, including percentages, multipliers, and ratios. You can even flip them!

Locking

In Resolution, everything is connected, so by default, changing something changes everything.

That’s where locking comes in. By clicking the little lock icon on the top right of any Step or Conversion, you can prevent that value from changing when other values are changed. You can even lock and unlock values in the middle of making a change.

Of course, if you lock too many things, you won’t be able to make changes to certain things. In that case, Resolution will show you where you’re stuck, and allow you to unlock it.

Make, save, and share.

Did you make something awesome? Share it with one-click publishing, and anyone you send the URL to can try out their own values, or create a copy to mess with. They don’t even need an account!

(Don’t worry,  no one can change YOUR model except you.)

Easy Allocation

In Resolution, everything is automatically connected. That means you can assign relative values instantly, without formulas or cell references. You can even use percentages!

Projected Impact

Xnapper-2023-01-24-15.05.49

Change a value, see the impact. Green means up, red means down. The brighter it is, the bigger the impact. You can even lock or unlock values and test out different outcomes.

Locks & Ranges

Xnapper-2023-01-24-15.27.21

Resolution always makes sure that your numbers add up. But if there’s something you want to stay the same, you can set a range, or just lock it outright

Groups

Xnapper-2023-01-24-15.29.05

When scenarios get complicated, use Groups to automatically tabulate related values, lock/unlock entire parts of the model at once, or even use the same input number in multiple places.

Drag and drop your... math? Yup.

Sounds weird, works great.

The only thing easier than building a model in Resolution is changing one. If something is in the wrong place… just move it. Build a Kanban board that calculates hours! Break out your projections by region instead of department! Move a function to a different cost center! You can even move or copy an entire branch with one drag, and one drop.
